Shravan month is considered to be of special importance in Sanatan Dharma. This year this holy month is starting from 25th July i.e. Sunday. Accordingly, the first Monday of Shravan will fall on 26th July. Shravan month will last till 22nd August. In this way, there will be four Mondays in this month, and there is a law to perform special worship and rituals of Lord Shiva on all four Mondays. Since Monday is a day dedicated to Lord Shiva, every Monday falling during Shravan is considered a holy day. In Hindu scriptures, there is a mention of special significance of the month of Shravan. In this month, Shiva devotees worship Lord Shiva and perform rituals. Some people keep fast on Monday and some people keep fast for this entire month. It is believed that Lord Shiva blesses every wish of his devotees to be fulfilled. Although this fast is kept by married women, but unmarried girls also fulfill the law of this fast.

When is Shivratri of Shravan month?

In Hindu calendar, every month on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha, Shivaratri falls, in some places it is also called Shravani Shivratri. The Shivaratri of this month is considered to be of special importance. By fasting and worshiping Lord Shiva on this day, all kinds of obstacles are removed and there is happiness and prosperity in life. It is believed that Lord Shiva visits the earth in Chaturmas and removes all the troubles of his devotees. In this month Shivratri is falling on 6th August, which will be passed on Saturday 7th August. Worship method of Shivaratri in the month of Shravan

On Chaturdashi Tithi, wake up before sunrise in the morning, after bathing and meditating, wear clean clothes, and take a vow of fasting and worship of Lord Shiva. After cleaning the idol or picture of Lord Shiva in the temple of the house, sprinkle Gangajal on them. Now invoke Lord Shiva by lighting an incense-lamp in front of Shiva. Offer 1001 vilva-patras to Lord Shiva while reciting the mantra. After that do Rudrabhishek with water, milk, perfume, curd. Offer dhatura, cannabis, jaggery, pua, pudding, raw gram, milk sweets etc. on Shivling. By performing Jalabhishek on Shivling on Shivratri, Lord Shiva removes all the troubles of the devotees and gives them the boon of desired fruits. Therefore, Jalabhishek is considered to be of special importance on this day.
